First Impression: Estee Lauder Double Wear Foundation

Hey Everyone!

Back when Sephora had their sale, I decided to take advantage and buy a foundation, as I normally don’t buy any high-end foundations. I was also looking for a foundation that I could wear on my wedding day down in Punta Cana. I also stocked up on Urban Decay’s All-Nighter Setting Spray because we all know how much I love it.

So with many recommendations and advice from the super helpful ladies at Sephora, I went with Estee Lauder’s Double Wear Foundation.

Keep on reading to find out my first impression!

Estee Lauder Double Wear

Β What Is it?

First things first, the Double Wear is a foundation that is raved about in the beauty community and just in general really haha. It is a lightweight foundation that is meant to last hours and it can withstand heat, humidity and nonstop activity (credit to Sephora for that explanation).

It is oil-free and it doesn’t oxidize on your skin! It’s pretty much a foundation where what you see is what you get and I like that.

How I Like It So Far

I’ve only used it a couple times because I am going to be returning it for a different shade. I got the shade that matched my skin toneΒ now, but with some tanning and my wedding being on the 3rd day of when I am down there, I know my colour will be a bit darker. So I need to make sure it doesn’t go below half in order for me to exchange the shade.

However, in the little time that I used it, I really understood why so many people love this foundation. It looks so natural and it doesn’t separate or gives my skin a cakey look at the end of the day. It blends beautifully and it is very buildable. I know there have been mixed reviews on how well it blends, but the woman I spoke to at Sephora said it could be the technique or your skin type that is making it difficult.

The biggest test to this foundation is wearing it in the heat. Since we aren’t getting much heat here, I will have to find out down in Punta Cana how well it holds up. With my All-Nighter Spray though, I am not too worried.

This first impression is very short & sweet, but I wanted to let you know my initial thoughts. I really do love wearing it and how natural it makes my skin look. I will do a full review when I come back from Punta Cana, so you should see that up in a month or so.

Please let me know your thoughts on this foundation! Is it your holy grail or could you do without it?

Thank you for reading!

  1. Love this post! I have seen so much about this in the beauty community..I really want to give it a try! It’s hard for me to find full coverage foundation without it getting cakey after awhile..

  2. I love this foundation on days I need full coverage. I find it a bit too much for everyday but I love it for events or days I will be out all day because it doesn’t budge. It does oxidize on me a bit though. I do find it worth every penny though as I haven’t found a drugstore comparable!

    Great post!

  3. This is an AMAZING foundation! They don’t have an exact match for my skin so I get as close as I can.. just a few more shades available would be sooooooo perfect! It’s a gorgeous one though! LOVE IT

  4. I still haven’t tried this cult favourite foundation. I like that it provides good coverage but doesn’t look made up.
Too bad about the shade match – I hope the next shade works for you!

    • Everyone that I spoke to in my Sephora was wearing it and most (ha) didn’t look caked up. Honestly, I am so impressed with it. It’s pricey but well worth it.
And I have to use 2 shades, I am in between, but the match is perfect with the 2 mixed.

  5. I love this foundation – it’s always my go to when I want my foundation to last a long time and still look nice at the end of the day xx

  6. Great post! I’ve been on the look out for a high-end foundation to wear all day for some upcoming big events. The ones I have tried so far are so cakey and are either too dry or too oily for me! It’s so hard to find the perfect one. I might give this a go!
