Review: Covergirl + Olay The De-Puffer

Happy Weekend!

I am having a relaxing weekend, not doing much, which is just the way I like it. What is everyone up to? I want to thank everyone who commented on my post about nail polish recommendations. I seriously lack knowledge when it comes to what is the best. Makeup is definitely my forte haha. I did go out and buy a few shades from Sinful Colors, as they were on sale and thanks to everyone who mentioned it!

I wanted to share a review with you all on a product I have been testing for a while. Covergirl and Olay have been teamed up for a long time now creating makeup products. I never was too interested in buying anything from that team of makeup, but for some reason de-puffer aspect intrigued me. Plus, it was on sale and I always love myself a good sale!

What it is?

This product is a concealer and a de-puffer all in one. It is supposed to smooth out puffiness while concealing dark circles at the same time.

Packaging

It comes in a small squeezable package. It has a metal applicator similar to Benefit’s Puff Off. I originally wanted to purchase Benefit’s, but I wasn’t willing to pay the price.

About the Product

The De-Puffer comes in a 6 different shades that are suitable for most skin types. They retail for $12.99 making it a bit pricier, but Covergirl products tend to go on sale quite a bit. The Olay serum has cucumber extract which allows for the eyes to appear less puffy.

What I Liked

I do admit I was very skeptical purchasing this, as I have never used a Covergirl + Olay type product before. I didn’t know what to expect and to be honest, I am not sure why I really bought it. However, I was quite impressed with how nice the applicator felt on my skin. I used it when I was going off a small amount of sleep, so when it was applied in the morning, the cool sensation instantly woke me up. I am not sure how well it did for helping the puffiness.

I really liked that the shade didn’t have any pink undertones. As you know, I have mentioned it many times before, I can’t stand pink undertones. The coverage isn’t bad for the product, it has more of a light-medium type coverage, but I don’t think that this product is focused on concealing as much as it is used for a de-puffer.

What I Didn’t Like

With the way the applicator is, it is meant to give your under eyes a cool sensation and help with any puffiness. However, it is not the greatest for blending. The product gets all over the applicator and I found it is easier to use a beauty blender or a makeup brush to get the coverage you want and to make it look more natural.

I don’t have too many negatives to say about this product. I really wanted to purchase and try it out to get a full idea of how well it works. I had to keep in mind that this is meant to be a de-puffer and I can’t base it off as a concealing product. I know that is an aspect of it, but this product is truly focused on their de-puffer. I wish there was a better way for it to be applied without it being so messy, but I don’t think that it is possible for this product.

Despite there being more positives than negatives, I don’t think I will purchase it again. I know there are other products out there that focus entirely on getting your puffy under eyes under control. I personally think that concealing shouldn’t be added into this product and I would prefer a clear gel. I do plan on using this product up as the cooling sensation is amazing!

What are your thoughts on this product? Have you tried it? Let me know!

  1. I’ve heard good things about the CG+Olay concealer that is in the pot. This one with the applicator looks a bit gimmicky… it doesn’t look like it’d have enough coverage for what I need! Thanks for the review. πŸ™‚

    • I think I have that one too, but haven’t tried it yet. It really does look similar to Benefit’s. I love the idea of it, but like I said I much rather have it as clear gel with the cooling aspect.
