Update: The Body Shop Tea Tree Mask & Jealous Body Scrub

Hi all!

I hope everyone had a great weekend! It is actually a long weekend here in Canada (I have today off, woot!). It’s called Victoria Day or what majority of us call it, May two-four weekend. It is pretty much a holiday that commemorates Queen Victoria and we celebrate with fireworks, drinking and road trips up to the cottage. I went to Canada’s Wonderland yesterday, which was a blast, so today is just a relaxing day off for me.

Back in March, I tried out two products that I bought, both relating to skincare. One was from The Body Shop and the other was Jealous Body Scrub. Over the last two months, I have been using them as much as possible to get an idea of how well they work. I promised a follow-up to both of them and now I am going to deliver 🙂

Tea Tree Mask

I originally bought this mask because I already had the toner which was doing an okay job for my skin. I figured a mask would be a lot more helpful with my breakouts, as the product would be sitting for 20 minutes. If you don’t know, tea tree oil is used for blemished skin, taking away any impurities. I have used many products in the past that contained tea tree oil and come the next day, I could already see the imperfections fading away. Needless to say, I knew this would work for me.

The product comes in a green package, giving me a 100 ml of product. It has a strong scent, which is the tea tree oil. It is a smell you have to get used to. When I first got this, I didn’t think there was enough product, but I have 1/4 left, which I think is pretty good for using it religiously for 2 months.

The directions tell you to apply the product to your face and neck with your fingertips. You leave it on for 10-15 mins and then wash it off with clean water. It says the product doesn’t dry, which confused me a little because it was definitely drying on my face. I used it 3 times a week to get the full effect of the mask. I really loved the initial cooling sensation and the feeling that this is actually working. My face felt refreshed and clean, giving a lasting impression.

However, I never really found it to make a big difference with my skin. It did make my skin smoother, giving areas a less noticeable roughness. But I don’t think it made a difference with stopping acne from occurring. I don’t want to blame the mask because I think there were a few things I could do to improve my skin, like cleaning my brushes more frequently. I changed my habits a bit and I have noticed my skin becoming clearer. So, I don’t want to say that this mask sucks and doesn’t work because that is not true. It worked in a different than I thought and I am going to continue to use it with my improved skin care routine. I am hoping my changed habits will allow the mask to do the job it was intended for.

If you are having trouble with acne, check out Joy’s post about how she prevents skin care. It’s a great list and I have found myself using her tips 🙂

Jealous Body Scrub

This next product is a coffee and coconut oil mix that is meant to help with skin imperfections including cellulite, stretch marks, acne, psoriasis etc. It is a Canadian company based out in Vancouver and I love supporting anything Canadian. I bought this as I was really interested in trying a product that helps with rough skin or skin that has imperfections. It is supposed to do a number of things to reach this goal including repairing, hydrating, protecting and exfoliating the skin. I used this product 3 times a week in the shower.

When I first received this, I was so excited and did an update like 2 days later haha. This product is truly amazing with leaving the skin feeling smooth and clean. It exfoliates like no other product I have tried and I could really tell that the dead skin was off of my body. I love the smell of coffee and using it in the morning is amazing because it wakes me up with the aroma smell. As mentioned in my last update, it does get messy, but the water from the shower easily gets rid of it.

Now the real reason I bought this. I have cellulite and stretch marks and I believe most woman and men have this. It is something that occurs and we shouldn’t feel embarrassed for having these imperfections. I wanted to know if this product would work with fading them away. And I can say, that yes it did. I have noticed that there has been less visibly with them and less redness. It did take a long time to notice any change, but the company did say it could take up to 4-6 weeks. The area feels so much smoother and it has given me a boost of confidence

I will continue to use this product and most likely order more once it runs out. I have always thought that these products were too good to be true, but I can easily say that they work. Again, proper care of your body and getting the right amount of water intake will affect the outcome as well. I have increased the amount of water I am drinking, so I think that has a part in the results as well.

I hope you enjoyed the updates to these two products. It is definitely a long process to get results you want, as life can get busy and your skin will react in different ways. If you were wondering about these products and were unsure of them, I hope this helps you 🙂
